Ex-Syrian Woman Debates the Qualities of Islam on Al Jazeera

Posted on November 14, 2007, under Current Events.

Somehow I missed this very interesting exchange on Al Jazeera back in 2006:

I know people currently serving in the military. The negative aspects she describes are among the reasons these people volunteered to serve in the current war on terror, to protect us here and to help our global neighbors obtain freedom from oppression. I’m very thankful to be born in the land of the free, and thankful for those who sacrifice to protect it!

I am Syrian and frankly this woman is sick. She must have had a bad emotional experience with some Muslim guy! Her rhetorical discourse does not really give anything useful. It’s just that: rhetoric. With due respect, what “civilization” is there about bombing whole villages in Iraq and Afghanistan by the westerners? What is the difference between a suicide bomber and a satellite-guided missile? What democracy was brought to Iraq now? What democracy in Afghanistan and today the “president” of Afghanistan is just the mayor of Kabul?

Aber (muslim_70), as I have no way to verify you are who you say you are, please allow me to ask a couple questions in response.

Is Al Jazeera prone to have debates scheduled with random, emotionally-upset women?

Are you saying the Syrian government sponsors suicide bombing?
