I haven’t been updating…obviously…I have a lot on my table right now, as does everyone. Today I have to finish my 8-10 page paper due for my Roman Empire class tomorrow, keep on reading my 550 page book, study spanish, yadda yadda. Oh well, at least its a challenge! Keeps me busy. Very busy.

Today in African Religions we talked about missionaries mainly in the 19th century who would go, from Britain, America, or Belgium, to the Congo and set themselves up there. There was a whole lot of misrepresentation by the Belgium colonial government, especially in the rubber trade, cutting of hands and arms if quotas weren’t met, trading in unfair quantities, stripping resources, etc. My prof, who is the child of Congo missionaries, said that almost all missionaries, although obviously disagreeing with these tactics, were too scared to say or do anything. What do you think you would have done? Its tough to say!
