A 26-year old gal learning just how much she needs Jesus

It’s too late for deep thoughts

April19

Its ranting time here in the homework-a-thon:

You know what I’ve always thought was interesting were philosophical debates over things like religion, psychology, etc. Lofty political, spiritual speculation by high-minded professors, leaders of the intellectual world, etc. These are the things are that are thought of as very important, and they are supposedly discovering and analyzing things that are landmarks to the social world. We can have discussions about these things all day. These are the things that get written down in history books, and these are the things we learn about and reference in the future.

But when it really comes down to it, what about that one person that is living out there in a world without a perception or an interest in these aspects. What about the real day to day living and knowing true love, care, joy and happiness. Are these high-minded discussions truly getting us anywhere? I don’t know…I can appreciate the value of such things, but I wonder about the their true value. My professor of New Testament Archaeology recently presented a research topic he had spent quite a bit of time on to my class - the topic was “What language did Jesus really speak?” The next class period he came back and told us that he realized that it was unimportant. “This is unimportant. It doesn’t really even matter.”

I can’t really explain what I mean here too well, but I hope you get my drift. Its just something I was thinking about after 4 years of college and watching so many debates on things like CNN and such.
