Kansas!!

May30

Last weekend, my parents & Tyler & I went to North Newton, Kansas, where my grandparents currently live. They have lived in Inman, Kansas, a small town of 1000 people for most of their lives, but have had to move off of the farm to be closer to medical assistance.

It was a wonderful time, it was so fun to see Tyler playing baseball with my cousins, and to be back in the Kansas countryside, a place that always makes me feel truly at home and loved. My family also threw us a surprise wedding shower, which was right as Tyler got done playing baseball, leaving nice damp spots all over his shirt for the pictures.

My grandparents’ farm was built by my grandpa, and my mom grew up there. I spent almost everyday there while we lived there, and have gone back time after time since we moved away. The farm has always been very special to me, and the place that I sometimes imagine when I’m feeling overwhelmed with life. I remember watching the cows in the fields, swimming in the slimy cow tank (yes), being chased by angry geese, playing gray wolf until we had to go inside, sleeping in piles of cousins in the living room, and waking up to the sun rise as I heard the clock chime.

I also remember taking long walks down the dirt road as the sun set, and watching the breeze sweep through the wheat, dreaming about my future, dreaming about the day when God would bring a husband into my life, dreaming about where God would take me and what sort of adventure my life would hold.

It was an altogether sort of different day this weekend, bringing my fiance there, and yet not having my grandparents there to greet us, and not having my cousins playing football in the front yard. No strange inbred white cats running around the yard, either.

But, God is faithful, and Tyler was able to meet my grandpa. And that means a lot to me. And my grandpa seemed to really like him. :)

Some of my life has really changed since I was a little girl, walking around the farm. Some of my dreams have disappeared, some have changed dramatically, and some have been fulfilled. Some of the dreamer in me has gotten lost in the shuffle of reality and busy-ness. I want to find some of that again, the peace and the quietness.

Wedding updates

May19

Well, it’s overwhelming to try to keep up with two intense, crazy people trying to plan a wedding within 3 months of getting engaged, but I will give you some fun updates!

Jenny, Jill, Mom, Ivy & I went dress shopping today and found a dress! (Kate & Libby Crumb couldn’t make it since Kate is ridiculously sick with strep & mono) It was the 4th one I tried on, and we all seemed to agree it was perfect. All of my bridesmaids have ordered their dresses, we have our reception & ceremony site, it is all coming together. I’ve registered at Target & Bed, Bath & Beyond, and I think I’m done with that.

Dang, I’m EXHAUSTED.

So, wedding plans are really coming together, Tyler & I will soon get to see each other more than 10 hours a week, we’re going to Kansas soon, and Colorado, my job is really going great, and God is teaching us some serious lessons in our lives.

That’s all I have the energy to write right now. Sometimes I have things I’d really like to write about, but it takes me a couple hours to think through something before I have the energy to truly write, and that has not existed the last couple months. Someday…

Thanks girls!!

Me & Tyler

May6

Finally, here are some pictures of Tyler & I that we took today out at a park nearby his home (my future house!) in Florence (the northeast side of Omaha)!

It has been raining for the past few days, but within the hour that we had today between Coram Deo & work, the weather was perfect! It started raining when we took the last picture and we got soaked before making it back to the car. Perfect!

They’re coming

May3

Soon enough, I will have pictures of me & Tyler. I seriously will. I promise. I really will.

Tyler & I are hopefully going to get some post-worthy pictures going on this weekend, and then I will try to put them up and email them so that everyone can check him out! :)

Life is absolutely absurdly crazy right now, but its so good and fun, also. I need people around me to keep me from going nuts and from stressing out way too much. Thank the Lord for friends! Tyler & I are hoping to move our wedding up to July and so that means a lot of stuff in a short amount of time, on top of everything else we normally have going on. So! Life is busy every single day until late, but it is really fun!

Anyway, keep checking back and I’m going to try to get more detailed and visual on this website.

Woooo…..
