Illumination Street

June9

Every couple of months MCD has a silent art auction, with art donated from local artists. Typically the art’s proceeds are split between MCD and the artist, but occasionally artists will donate all of the proceeds to further MCD’s mission and programs.

June 6th & 7th was our last auction, put on by the lovely Samantha Jones. Her theme this year was “The Giving Tree” and was also highlighting National Hunger Day (June 3rd). She had information about “Life on the Brick,” MCD’s meal program centered on relationships, and one of our partner ministries, Starfish Ministries, which prepares lunches downtown on Sunday afternoons.

Unfortunately we had to compete with “Taste of Omaha” for crowd attendance, but it was still a great event. Saturday night drew in the biggest crowd, most likely because local favorite, and fellow Coram Deo-er, Jared Strock was playing. Friday night highlighted Jake Bouma, one of Sami’s friends from Des Moines, and Tyler & I ended up purchasing one of his cd’s, which we really like!

Tyler & I came down on Friday night to take some pictures for Sami, and I thought I’d share them with you lovely folks.
