CHANGE OF PLANS!

November9

I know, SHOCKER!

I am staying in LA for another week. Today was amazing. Just such an amazing day. God is so good to me in so many beautifully small and delicate ways.

My great friend Chum picked me up this morning and gave me a great hooded sweatshirt from his own clothing line, and then we went and met his amazing friend Alex and had lunch together. Chum picked out this random cafe in allllll of LA and we went there, in Santa Monica, and they were having, at this very cafe, a promotion.

It was rough and hard work.

You drive a $80,000 Lexus around the block and you get a free lunch at this fabulous Coral Tree Cafe. So, i sat in the back, and enjoyed my reclining rear seat, built-in mini-fridge, climate control, whatever, while Chum whipped around the corners and floored it, and I got a free $15 lunch. Yeah.

And this car parallel parks itself. Yes, you heard right. By itself.

And then I met this amazing guy Alex who works in documentaries, and recently worked with John Eldredge, and wants to work on something that advocates for the children who suffer from trafficking, which if you know me, is a huge passion of mine.

And then we went to the Getty museum, and saw Gospels from the 800’s, and Roman Art, and Van Gogh’s Irises ($52 million), and then I saw my amazing friends Regina & Amy, and then we went to dinner at UCLA with my other friend Alex, and walked around campus, and especially the amazing library. And then I talked with my soul-sister rebecca until now. I’m staying in their ridiculous home.

God is so good to me, very very good and loving. I wonder what He has ultimately planned through these amazing and strong connections He’s given me in LA with people that have the passions and means to accomplish things that I desire to also do with my life. He is so good.

bhI’m in Los Angeles as we speak, listening to some Bob Barnard jazz, passing the morning. Last night I dropped my friend Meredith off at her job in Korea Town, apparently called “K-town” by the Korean kids that live there because it’s more cool that way, and then I had 3 hours to do whatever, so I drove down Wilshire and drove through Beverly Hills, and down Rodeo Drive, and Santa Monica Blvd….

I can’t say that LA scenery interests me that much, but it’s definitely nice to see it, get it off my list of places to go. Meredith lives right by USC, so it’s a nice college area, lots of people walking around, lots of skateboards and sunglasses. Last night we went and hung out with some women from her church, and I can’t really think of anything interesting to write, so this is officially perhaps my most boring post ever.

And no, that is not my picture, I’m not that cheesy.

And……scene.

Mystery revealed

October31

daintyI’m in AZ and I just got back from a nice long walk with Lea and her parental units. We’re having a great time being spoiled here in ritzy Chandler/Scottsdale! Pretty upscale.

Speaking of upscale, I just had to write briefly to reveal what the word dainty means. Some of you kind of get it, yes, I’m proud of you. Side note - I’m not sure why I put “yes” in the middle of my sentences, it’s almost Smeagol-ish, if you remember. I won’t elaborate for my sake.

Okay, dainty, in my opinion means delicate and fragile. I would usually use it in regard to women that are very feminine. I would like to think of myself as dainty at times in ways. Sort of, delicate, elegant, and “light.” I’m not sure how to elaborate on “light,” but it’s a very elegant and airy way of being, the opposite of brash and blunt I guess. Soft.

So, that is my personal usage of the word dainty, and I keep running across people that don’t know what it means, so I felt I was being delegated by Webster to educate humanity and to embellish our collective vocabulary to new, elaborated heights.

Do try to incorporate it into convos. You’ll sound refined. Like me.

Don’t be wimpy.

I want more answers on what dainty means. Don’t wimp out on me! And where are the Collicotts??? Come on family! I know you know what dainty means.

Okay, I am leaving tomorrow morning to go to Phoenix to spend a few days with Lea O’Dell because on November 4th, she’ll be Lea Gottry. Yes, she is taking the plunge. And then I’m going to LA to spend about 10 days with my friends from Sprachcamp. As long as Meredith picks me up at the airport. Come on, Meredith!

I have no idea what we’ll be doing in LA but if you know me, this is normal.
